Why should I forgive?
“Forgive your neighbor’s injustice; then when you pray, your sins will be forgiven.
Should a man nourish anger against his fellows and expect healing from the Lord?
Should a man refuse mercy to his fellows, yet seek pardon for his own sins?
If he who is but flesh cherishes wrath, who will forgive his sins?”
Sirach 28:2-5
“Should you not have had pity on your fellow servant, as I had pity on you?”
Matthew 18:33
“But if you do not forgive others, neither will your Father forgive your transgressions.”
Matthew 6:15
“Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, bearing with one another and forgiving one another, if one has grievance against another; as the Lord has forgiven you, so must you also do. And over all these put on love, that is the bond of perfection.”
Colossians 3:12-14
